The Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation (PTFCF), Inc. is seeking proposals from qualified organizations for its Forest Landscape Grant Program in Eastern Samar, Leyte and Southern Leyte.
The Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation (PTFCF), Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization established in 2002, under two bilateral agreements between the governments of the United States of America and the Philippines, to provide grants to organizations that empower the people to protect the forests.
Aims
Through this program, the Foundation intends to:
- Establish a participatory and coordinated strategy to natural resource management on a large scale;
- Increase understanding on the impacts of management decisions on forest ecosystems products and services;
- Mitigate climate change by reducing emissions from forest degradation and deforestation (REDD-Plus) activities consistent with the Philippine National REDD-Plus Strategy; and
- Ensure the satisfaction of local needs while contributing to national commitments and global targets.
Eligible Projects
Proposed projects should contribute to the protection and sustainable management of Philippine forests and its biodiversity.
Funding Information
For 2017-2021, the Foundation is planning to allocate approximately Php 64M of total Forest Landscape Grants from the Second Tropical Forest Conservation Fund for projects in Samar/Leyte islands.
Grant Categories
- Large Grants – up to Php 24 M of total project cost, to be implemented in a minimum of one year up to maximum of five years.
- Medium Grants – up to Php 6M of total project cost, to be implemented in a minimum of one year up to a maximum of three years.
- Small Grants – up to Php 500,000 of direct project activity cost, to be immediately implemented and completed within a year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Entities involved in development, education, research, communications, livelihood and forestry are encouraged to apply. This includes:
- Non-governmental, peoples, indigenous peoples, professional, socio-civic and community organizations;
- Other appropriate local or regional entities active in the Philippines; and
- Government of the Republic of the Philippines, in exceptional circumstances.
- PTFCF discourages multiple proposals from a single proponent. Second or subsequent proposals from current PTFCF grantees may be considered contingent on the delivery of results of the current project.
- In addition, project implementation can be done through integrated projects by one Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), several CSOs in a consortium agreeing to perform or achieve particular outputs in support of a common project outcome. Organizations with a national scope, i.e., large non-government organizations or federations, should encourage their local partners to submit proposals.
- Other entities, like State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), higher educational institutions, corporate foundations, chambers of commerce or specific industry chambers, are invited to engage in partnerships rather than apply for grants from the Foundation.
- Priority will be given to entities that can operate and work with the local communities in forested landscape of Eastern Samar, Leyte and Southern Leyte provinces. It is encouraged that communities and local stakeholders would be involved in the proposal development stage.
