In response to the critical situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukrainian Women’s Fund (UWF) announces a competition for rapid response grants to develop the capacity of women’s / feminist organizations to respond promptly and effectively to the challenges faced by women and girls.
The purpose of this competition is to support the ability of women’s / feminist organizations to respond quickly and effectively to the challenges faced by women and girls in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Women’s Voice and Leadership – Ukraine is a five-year project supported by the Government of Canada’s Voice of Women and Leadership program. The project supports women’s rights organizations, activists and platforms of engagement in achieving their institutional, programmatic and advocacy goals in order to effectively promote the full realization of women’s and girls’ human rights and promote gender equality in Ukraine. Voice of Women and Leadership – Ukraine” is implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund in cooperation with the International Renaissance Foundation and the public organization La Strada-Ukraine.
Priorities
- Increasing the ability of women’s / feminist organizations to liaise online with their target groups, including vulnerable women and girls, to provide services to their target groups online, and to coordinate with other women’s / feminist organizations and activists. This area of work may include, but is not limited to, the following activities: interactive online trainings; developing the capacity of facilitators / trainers who can work with different audiences; innovative models for providing online services to vulnerable women and girls; on-line advocacy campaigns; innovative resource mobilization strategies and more
- Development of effective models of systematic support for women in situations of domestic violence and practical implementation of these models to support women and girls in critical situations
- Supporting women and girls with disabilities and the care of people with disabilities who, due to quarantine restrictions, do not have full access to social services and full-time regular health care services

Eligibility Criteria
- Participation in the competition is open to: officially registered women’s rights organizations from all regions of Ukraine with at least two years’ experience and focus (in accordance with the statute) on the protection of women’s rights and / or the promotion of gender equality, as well as non-governmental ones. institutions and political parties.
- Women / feminists are recognized as those organizations whose purpose (under the statute) is to protect women’s rights and / or promote gender equality. Women ‘s professional associations are not considered women’ s organizations unless they prove that they adhere to feminist principles and, in addition to providing services to women, extend their rights.
- Adherence to feminist principles and values in initiatives to tackle the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and girls is an important criterion for project evaluation. Feminist principles and values include, but are not limited to, values of gender equality, empowerment of women and girls, respect for human dignity, solidarity and inclusiveness. The UWF sees vulnerable women and girls not as victims and passive recipients, but as participants in joint decisions. Their voices matter!
Project Evaluation Criteria
- The activities of the project respond to an urgent problem within the priorities of the competition
- The project offers a systematic approach to solving the problem, the methodology can be extended to other regions / target groups
- The project contains a clear plan for achieving a quick result, improving the situation, the proposed actions are as effective as possible to solve the problem
- Adherence to feminist principles and values in initiatives aimed at overcoming the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic for women and girls, as evidenced by the project of the organization and its previous activities
- Ability to deliver proposed results based on previous experience and resources of the organization, local support
- Ability to provide an adequate level of financial management and reporting
