The newly established Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Foundation LV= Education Grant fund is open to all health care support workers employed in the UK.
The RCN Foundation is here to support every member of the nursing team as they care for patients and improve the UK’s health and wellbeing. Their grants for nursing-led research and projects, as well as for education and hardship, support professionals to innovate, develop their careers and get through tough times.
Purpose
They achieve the purpose in three different ways:
- They support individual members of the nursing team by making grants for hardship and education
- They invest in the nursing profession to improve patient care by funding nursing-led projects in their priority areas
- They champion nursing through activities that raise the profile of the profession and strengthen public understanding of its contribution to improving the nation’s health
Roles
So if you are a health care support worker, you may be able to get funding that will help you progress in your career. Being under the supervision of a nurse is the key criteria – roles this grant covers include the following:
- nursing support worker
- health care assistant
- care home assistant
- maternity support worker
- registered nursing associate
Funding Information
- Grants awarded will be worth up to £1,600, and will cover the cost of a wide range of educational courses, such as: phlebotomy, wound care, cannulation, taking an ECG, venepuncture, and Advanced Life Support.
Eligibility Criteria
- You do not need to be a member of the RCN to apply for any RCN Foundation funding. However, please note that nursing apprenticeships are not eligible to apply for this grant.
- The fund is dedicated to your professional development.
- To be eligible to apply for the funding, you need to be a health care support worker, and you need to select a course that has a start date between 1 January 2023 and 1 January 2024.
