Deadline: 8-Sep-21
The Real Estate Foundation has announced the applications for General Grants to support projects that advance sustainable land use and real estate practices in British Columbia.
General Grants support the research, education, and policy work needed to balance the needs of today’s British Columbians with those of future generations.
General Grants support non-profit organizations working to advance sustainable land use and real estate practices in British Columbia.
Budget Guidelines
- As part of the grant application process, applicants will be asked to provide a realistic budget that includes anticipated project costs and revenue sources (both cash and in-kind).
- REFBC will consider funding up to 50% of the cash portion of a project budget.
- REFBC prefers not to act as the sole cash funder of a project. They expect that other partners and funders will be approached for cash and in-kind support.
- Budgets should reflect costs and revenue sources (pending and confirmed) for a time-bound project or initiative. However, given that projects are often supported by an organization’s overall budget, applicants may allocate up to 15% of their budget for administration or indirect costs.
- REFBC grants can be used to cover project-related costs, including staffing and program delivery, project coordination, communications, consultant fees, workshops, and travel.
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply for an REFBC grant, the lead applicant must be a registered non-profit organization or community contribution company (C3).
- Examples of eligible applicants include First Nations, charities and societies, non-governmental organizations, universities and colleges, trade associations, local and regional governments, and social enterprises registered as C3s.
- They encourage applications from First Nations, Indigenous-led non-profits, and organizations that serve equity-seeking groups.
Exclusions
REFBC will not consider applications for:
- Activities that primarily provide financial benefits for individuals
- Debt retirement, reserves, mortgage paydowns, or retroactive funding
- Partisan political activities
