The People in Need in partnership with the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection is pleased to announce the launch of a restricted call for proposals under the Local Empowerment and Development – Civil Society Project for Financial Support to Third Parties.
Objectives
- The small grant provides financial support to Lead CSOs and CSO networks to implement internal organizational development investments outlined in their organizational/network action plans.
- The Local Empowerment and Development (LEAD) programme builds on the critical role of local civil society and aims to address the barriers faced by CSOs. The initiative focuses on strengthening internal governance and organizational management systems, enhancing technical capacities in policy development, advocacy, and social accountability, and fostering collaboration among CSOs, political actors, and other key stakeholders through a tailored, participant-driven approach.
Funding Information
- CSOs and CSO networks can apply for a minimum financial support of 3,500.00 EUR and maximum financial support of EUR 7,500.00.
Eligible Activities
- Grant activities include, but are not limited to:
- Creation and introduction of internal policies, procedures and systems related to internal governance, management, accountability and transparency;
- Development and implementation of new organisational management approaches and funding strategies;
- Development and implementation of HR processes including staff capacity building plans;
- Other relevant capacity building and organisational development or strategic activities in line with Organisational/Network Strategies and Action Plans.
Eligible Expenses
- Expenditures which can be requested as part of the grant are:
- Creation and introduction of internal policies, procedures and systems related to internal governance, management, accountability and transparency
- Development and implementation of new organisational management approaches and funding strategies
- Development and implementation of HR processes including staff capacity building plans
Ineligible Expenses
- Expenditures that cannot be requested as part of the grant, nor considered as co-financing:
- Repayment of borrowings/debts
- Repayment of future expenses – salaries/fees, rent
- Financing of undertaken obligations (for example-activities funded by other sources), any personal expenses (for example travel expenses: local and/or international)
- Costs declared by the applicant and financed by another action or work programme
Eligibility Criteria
- This call is exclusively open to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and CSO networks that are currently enrolled in the LEAD capacity development programme and have successfully completed the required preparatory activities.
- Selected organizations will have three months from the contracting date to implement their proposed activities across the target provinces of Western, North-western, Lusaka, Southern, and Luapula.
- Eligible target applicants for FSTP:
- Local Empowerment and Development CSOs and CSO networks enrolled in the LEAD capacity development programme,
- 30 CSOs and 10 CSO networks who have fully participated in Activity Participatory organisational capacity assessment of LEAD CSOs and CSO networks and development of Organisational/Network Strategies and Action Plans
- 30 CSOs and 10 CSO Networks who have fully participated in Activity LEAD CSO and CSO network capacity development actions focused on internal management systems, financial management, digital skills and resource mobilization
Evaluation Criteria
- A list of the specific criteria are:
- Alignment with Organisational/Network Strategies and Action Plans
- Sound proposed action that strengthens internal governance and management systems/processes of CSOs/CSO networks
- Value for money
- Ability and interest of the applicant to support other LEAD CSOs via peer-to-peer learning
- Environmental considerations in design and delivery of service.
