The Queens Arts Fund (QAF) offers project-based grants to Queens-based artists, artist collectives, and small non-profit organizations to support the local production of artwork and cultural programs that highlight, engage, and bolster the diverse communities of the Queens borough.
Types of Grant
- New Work Grant: The New Work Grant supports emerging individual artists and artist collectives of all artistic disciplines in their creation of new work. “New Work” is defined as work that has not been produced or presented to an audience before.
- Arts Access Grant: The Arts Access Grant supports community-based organizations and collectives in their efforts to produce public arts and cultural programs that bolster the cultural vibrancy of the Queens communities and neighborhoods where they are located and operate.
Funding Information
- New Work Grant: New Work Grants offer project-based financial support of $3,000.
- Arts Access Grant: Applicants may submit grant requests for $1,000 to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- New Work Grant:
- Artists who live in Queens or who have a full-time studio lease in Queens (PO boxes are not accepted)
- Artist collectives or collaborations must designate one Queens-based artist as the “lead applicant” who applies on behalf of the group. The lead applicant must meet all eligibility requirements for individual artists.
- Artists working in any artistic discipline
- Arts Access Grant:
- Organizations that apply must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and must provide proof of nonprofit status with a 501(c)3 determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Collectives that apply must be unincorporated artist collectives.
- The organization or collective applying must have existed for at least one year.
- Applicants must be located/based in Queens and show proof of a Queens address in the application.
- Applicants must designate a “Lead Applicant” to complete the Arts Access application and act as the point person throughout the selection process.
- Lead applicants must be at least 18 years of age by December 31, 2024.
