A Rocha Ghana in partnership with Wacam and the Nature and Development Foundation, under the Building Resilient and Active Communities in Extractive Landscapes (BRACE) Project is thrilled to invite applications for CSO funding support across three thematic areas to augment policy influencing and advocacy, on evidence gathering and respect for human rights interventions within the extractive sector.
The overall aim of the project is to contribute to achieving sustainable and equitable environmental management and good natural resource governance by communities, government and private extractive sector actors in Ghana.
Thematic Areas of Focus
- General CSOs intervention for Sustainable Minerals Governance in the Extractive sector: This funding targets CSOs working in the extractive sector. A total of four CSOs will be selected based on defined eligibility criteria. The funding will support activities aligned with; evidence gathering, advocacy and engagement with duty bearers; awareness-raising with affected communities; and communications.
- CSO’s working in CREMA landscapes: This support is for CSOs located within the operational areas of the targeted CREMAs to support in the implementation of CREMA management plans, with focus on the following areas: Resource Utilisation, Resource Improvement, Resource Monitoring, and Resource Protection.
- Flexible Funding for CSOs on General Environmental Related Policy Influencing and Advocacy Interventions: 2 CSOs will be selected.
Funding Information
- General CSOs intervention for Sustainable Minerals Governance in the Extractive sector: Total Budget under this theme is GHC 440,000 (GHC 110,000 for each successful applicant organisation).
- CSO’s working in CREMA landscapes: Total Budget for this thematic area is GHC 220, 000 (GHC 110,000 for each successful applicant per organization).
- Flexible Funding for CSOs on General Environmental Related Policy Influencing and Advocacy Interventions: Total Budget for this thematic area is GHC 38,500 per organization.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Are you non-partisan?
- Are you a CSO/NGO?
- Are you registered? Please send a copy of your registration certificate with your application.
- Do you have a minimum of one year’s documented experience in implementing projects that fit with the specified eligible activities?
- Do you have a dedicated finance/accounting staff with evidence of internal separation of accounting duties?
- Do you have evidence of mainstreaming social inclusion and gender in their projects?
- Do you have evidence of capacity for proper financial and narrative reporting?
- Have you managed a project budget equivalent to or later than the project budget you are requesting?
Application Requirements
- Submit a complete application including the following documents:
- Project narrative proposal (Arial font, size 10, single spacing)
- Project log frame
- Project budget
- Copy of organisation registration certificate
- Evidence of mainstreaming social inclusion and gender into projects
- Evidence of capacity for proper financial and narrative reporting (5 and 6 can be
- combined in, for example a project narrative and financial report)
- Copy of latest annual accounts.
