Deadline: 24 July 2019
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is inviting organizations with relevant expertise to submit a statement of qualifications to serve in the role of a Rural Learning and Coordinating Center.
RWJF’s Healthy Communities theme is interested in identifying and funding a Rural Learning and Coordinating Center (Center) (final name TBD) to work alongside RWJF, rural communities, and others in the field committed to improving rural health equity and well-being in nation. The Center will provide systematic learning and coordination across those working nationally and regionally to advance social and economic conditions in rural communities, which ultimately lead to better health and well-being. To this end, the Center will look to better connect the work happening to improve community conditions for better health in rural America; advance the research and evidence that can support this work; and identify policy and systems solutions that support change in rural places given their unique assets and challenges. The Center will:
- Develop and manage a national advisory committee.
- Develop and evolve a theory of change on what it takes to create the community conditions that advance equitable social and economic opportunity to improve health in rural places.
- Systematically capture and synthesize relevant research, trends and learning across the field and relevant RWJF investments, and disseminate findings.
- Build out and manage up to three future grant opportunities to address gaps in knowledge and practice in this area.
- Lead and implement multisector convenings, networking and dissemination activities in order to elevate learnings and build connections and linkages between and among stakeholders.
Total Awards
- A single grant of up to $2 million will be awarded through this call for proposals.
- The grant is for a funding period of 24 months, with likelihood of renewal dependent upon the quality of activities and deliverables and ongoing alignment with RWJF priorities.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
- Preference will be given to applicants that are either public entities or nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are not private foundations or Type III supporting organizations. The Foundation may require additional documentation.
- Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories.
