Applications are open for the National Safe Work Month ‘People’s Choice Award’ Grant Program (the Program) which is a short-term, competitive grant program that is part of National Safe Work Month.
Safe Work Australia is committed to improving work health and safety (WHS) and workers’ compensation arrangements across Australia and provides support through the Program to projects or initiatives of individuals, businesses, government and non-government organisations that align with this commitment.
Aims
The aims of this Program are to:
- increase community awareness and knowledge of WHS and workers’ compensation
- build profile as the national policy body for WHS and workers’ compensation
- build relationships with key influencers and national bodies, and
- support the priority areas including industries, action areas and conditions in the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012–2022.
Funding Information
- Safe Work Australia has allocated funding of $55,000 to the Program.
- The maximum grant amount that will be offered to a shortlisted finalist is $20,000 (GST inclusive).
- The winner of the ‘People’s Choice Award’ may be awarded a maximum additional amount of $5,000 in grant funding (GST inclusive).
Project Timing
The project or initiative must be completed and all grant funds claimed within 12 months of the date the grant agreement is signed.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants
- Applications are open to any sole trader, partnership, business or other organisation operating within Australia that has an ABN.
- Individuals submitting an entry on behalf of a business or organisation must have permission from that business or organisation to do so.
- Eligible projects
- To be eligible, applicants’ project or initiative must be aimed at improving work health and safety in their workplace. The project or initiative must involve or target any of the priority areas, including industries, action areas and conditions in the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012–2022.
- Applicants’ application (including the project or initiative for their workplace described in the application) and any supporting documentation must be original and must not copy or reproduce another person’s work. They will ask them declare this in signing the application form.
