SEED Foundation has launched a call for projects 2018 “TERROIRS AFRICAINS” that aims to promote the local resources of the African soils (whether it is a know-how, a local product, an agricultural practice …) and to optimize their management mode so to support their role in the development of family farming in Africa.
Project Aims
Project will aim to:
- maintain diversity of farming practices, protect the different forms of production and resilience of ecosystems
- develop efficient agricultural production systems that consume fewer natural and financial resources
- support the development and diversity of local sectors, from production to the marketing of the finished product

- Funding : between € 7,000 and € 15,000
- Overall allocation : 45.000 €

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, projects must be sponsored by a French organization in partnership with a local organization. The partnership must be formalized and pre-existing to the project presented.
- Eligibility of the French carrier
- To be in partnership with an African carrier
- Have experience in the field of agricultural development in Africa
- Be eligible for patronage and issue CERFA tax receipts
- Submit only one project per call
- Do not file a project if a partnership is in progress with SEED Foundation
- Not to be a student association
- Eligibility of the African carrier
- To be in partnership with a French porter
- Being a non-profit organization
- Actively participate in the design and implementation of the project
- Be able to continue the process after the support
- Eligibility of the project presented
- Being in an eligible African country (mentioned below) and in an area within 3 hours of the capital
- Be less than 3 hours drive from the country’s capital
- To be innovative
- Create or strengthen agricultural and / or agro-food activities and contribute to the creation of local added value
- The project must concern agricultural or livestock products intended for local food and not for export
- The project must concern at least 2 stages of the sector: production, processing, marketing
- The pre-project stages must already have been completed: feasibility study, diagnosis, market study, project drafting
Selection Criteria
The SEED Foundation team will pay particular attention to the following areas:
- The relationship between staffing and the total project budget: priority will be given to projects where SEED Foundation funding is decisive in the budget.
- The stages of the sector concerned by the project: priority will be given to projects acting on several stages of the sector.
