The Severn Trent Water has launched its Severn Trent Environmental Protection Scheme (STEPS) to provide grants of up to £30,000 for infrastructure improvement and land management changes in Severn Trent (ST) target areas.
Items to enhance biodiversity on farms are also available and are not included by this funding limit.
Aims
- STEPS aims to protect and improve watercourses and the wider environment by supporting improvements which are above and beyond good agricultural practice. Items focusing on enhancing on- farm biodiversity are also available.
The scheme is voluntary and funded by ST. It’s being supported by dedicated ST local agricultural advisors who can provide dedicates one to one help with the application process. Applicants demonstrating a clear water quality benefit to the issues of concern in that area and who have engaged with the local agricultural advisor are most likely to be successful.

- Grant up to £30,000 (Under special offer packages. £10,000 funding cap applies as standard) is available.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for support from STEPS, you must:
- Farm or have land in a priority catchment in the Severn Trent region.
- Actively farm the land.
- Severn Trent Water will match-fund up to £10,000 per application.
