My Community invites non-governmental organizations (NGOs), media organizations and initiative / civic groups representing Cohort 1 partner communities to apply for the small grant competition.
The purpose of the Small Grants Program, implemented by the My Community program, is to support and strengthen the capacity of non-governmental organizations, media organizations and civic groups to promote innovative methods and tools for ensuring transparency and involvement of citizens in the local decision-making process. support will contribute to creating a favorable environment for the active participation of citizens in community life, which involves the involvement of citizens in solving problems creating partnerships with local public authorities, as well as accountability them.
My Community is the main program of the United States Development Agency (USAID) in the field of local government and aims to support the authorities local governments to become more efficient, transparent and accountable to citizens, as well and to provide technical assistance and training to city hall employees in order to be able to respond to the needs of citizens. The assistance of the program is primarily aimed at public authorities first level local governments, but will also be supported by civic groups and the local business environment, as their ability to promote their rights will improve.
Grants are offered for the implementation and institutionalization in the partner communities of the My Community program in Cohort 1 of instruments aimed at increasing transparency in the activity of Local Public Administration (LPA), accountability of local authorities to citizens. and the creation of different collaboration platforms between LPAs and citizens, especially with marginalized groups.

- Increase local revenues and adopt improved practices by financial management.
Funding Information
IREX can offer a grant worth up to 11,000 lei per community, and the implementation period of the grant will be 3-7 months.
Eligible Projects
Projects submitted to the competition should respect the principles of inclusion, in particular the role of women, young people or other disadvantaged groups. These projects will also provide opportunities to implement or expand successful models or to develop / test new models such as:
- Platforms for citizen involvement developed in cooperation with the Local Public Administration.
- For example: plea to the Local Public Administration for the implementation of participatory budgeting; plea for the establishment of the community advisory council that would monitor in a participatory way the implementation of the strategic plan.
- Innovative tools to facilitate feedback and communication with citizens
- For example: citizen reporting cards (evaluation of public services); plea on behalf of the citizens to ensure the transparency of the Local Council meetings by broadcasting them online;
- Monitoring the activity of the Local Public Administration
- For example: institutionalization of tools for monitoring public procurement or public spending and regular information of citizens;
citizen-oriented initiatives that promote Community surveillance of emergency response actions and recovery strategies used by LPAs.

- Institutionalization of platforms that would facilitate the involvement of marginalized voices in community development
- For example: advocacy for the inclusion of marginalized groups and their inclusion in all decision-making processes (budgeting, improving local infrastructure, public services, setting long-term community priorities.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-governmental organizations, media organizations, officially registered in the Republic of Moldova, and civic groups / initiative groups that wish to implement or extend successful and innovative models of insurance transparency of local public administration activities and citizen involvement in problem solving in the partner communities of the My Community program in Cohort 1.
