The City of Victor Harbor is now calling for applications for the 2022/23 Sport and Recreation Grants Program.
This year, in addition to minor grants, the Council will be offering major grants to support facility and infrastructure projects for local sport and recreation organisations.
The City of Victor Harbor Sport and Recreation Grant Program provides financial support for a range of community activities and projects relating to sport and recreation. The program is specifically aimed at encouraging or increasing participation and active wellbeing or improving sport and recreation facilities.
The funding streams for the Sport and Recreation Grant Program are outlined:
- Major Grants: This funding stream is specifically aimed at strategic infrastructure projects initiated by community groups, clubs or organisations that encourage participation and active wellbeing, or that improve access to, or quality of, sport and recreation facilities.
- Minor Grants: This funding stream assists groups and individuals to make a positive contribution to sport and recreation development in the district.

- The City of Victor Harbor will invest in proposals that can demonstrate commitment to the following outcomes:
- High quality and accessible public spaces for active sport and recreation.
- Reducing costs associated with delivering and participating in sport and recreation.
- Provision of high quality, inclusive, and accessible sport and recreation infrastructure and facilities.
- Increasing participation opportunities made available through the development of new or upgraded multi-use sport and active recreation infrastructure.
- Increasing local economic activities through the building or activation of sport and recreation facilities.
- Demonstrating a positive response to climate change and environmental sustainability.
- Progressing multi-use, shared and integrated facilities including those on public or private educational institutions that can ensure long-term community access.

- Minor Grants
- The City of Victor Harbor will prioritise investment in proposals that can demonstrate commitment to the following outcomes:
- Reducing costs associated with delivering and participating in sport and recreation.
- Building capacity and skills development to facilitate and grow participation in sport and recreation.
- Promotes participation and supports an opportunity for marginalised groups, i.e. increases accessibility and/ or inclusion for all.
- The City of Victor Harbor will prioritise investment in proposals that can demonstrate commitment to the following outcomes:
- Minor Grants Individuals
- The City of Victor Harbor will prioritise investment in proposals that can demonstrate commitment to the following outcomes:
- Reducing costs associated with delivering and participating in sport and recreation.
- Building capacity and skills development to facilitate and grow participation in sport and recreation.
- Promotes and supports opportunities for increased access and inclusion for participants in sport and recreation, particularly participants from disadvantaged or under-represented sectors of their community
- The City of Victor Harbor will prioritise investment in proposals that can demonstrate commitment to the following outcomes:
Funding Information
- Major grants: total funding pool of $100,000, with a maximum amount of $20,000 to be allocated towards each major grant application
- Minor grants: $10,000 per financial year in total will be allocated for Minor Grants.
- Groups – maximum amount $1,000 per group application.
- Individuals – maximum amount $400 per individual application.
Eligibility Criteria
- Major Grants
- To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a not-for-profit sport and/or recreation organisation, club or group based within the City of Victor Harbor.
- Be an incorporated body.
- Applicants situated outside of the region are eligible to apply but must be able to demonstrate that the project will primarily benefit residents within the City of Victor Harbor region.
- Priority will be given to applicants that can demonstrate that a grant is necessary for the project to proceed. The grant awarded may be scaled according to the degree of local involvement.
- Be contributing at least 50% of the total project cost.
- To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minor Grants
- Funding will only be made to Minor Grant Group applicants who meet the following criteria:
- Be a not-for-profit sport and/or recreation organisation or group based within the City of Victor Harbor Council area
- Be an incorporated body
- Provide a co-contribution.
- Funding will only be made to Minor Grant Group applicants who meet the following criteria:
- Minor Grants Individuals
- Funding will only be made to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Reside within the City of Victor Harbor Council area
- Be an individual
- Funding towards sport and/or recreation activities / events or item(s)
- Provide a co-contribution (cash or in-kind).
- Funding will only be made to individuals who meet the following criteria:
