The Veolia Environmental Trust is seeking submissions for the Community Grants Program to create or improve buildings or outside spaces for the benefit of the community.
The Community Grant Scheme is available to constituted not-for-profit organisations, local authorities and Environmental Bodies (EBs).
They fund improvements to community buildings and outside spaces and the vision is for a healthy environment where communities can thrive.
Funding Information
- A grant application requesting between £10,000 and £75,000
- A project with a total cost of no more than £350,000
Timescale
- a project that will physically start within four months of being awarded a grant
- a project that will complete within 12 months of its start date
Eligible Projects
- Promotes community action and wellbeing
- You need to have consulted everyone who uses the project site (current and potential) who will benefit from this project.
- Ensure the results of the consultation are included in the project aims.
- You will, where possible, make use of volunteers to deliver the project.
- Volunteering opportunities will increase as a result of this project.
- Is inclusive and accessible to everyone and anyone to use
- The project actively encourages greater use by all members of the general public, from different cultures, religions, ages, genders, backgrounds and disabilities from accessing and using the site.
- Inspires the creation of a sustainable carbon neutral community space
- The project will reduce the carbon footprint of the site.
- You will be working towards goals to make the project site carbon neutral.
- Protects and enhances biodiversity and natural habitats
- Your project will increase biodiversity at the project site.
- The delivery of this project will not damage or destroy natural habitats.
Eligibility Criteria
- They will consider funding for:
- a project which will take place on a single site
- physical improvement works to a building or outdoor space which has public access: e.g. community centre or space, public
- park, play area, skate park, MUGA, sports ground, woodland, nature reserve, community garden, public right of way, inland waterway
- all permissions (e.g. planning/religious etc) have been approved
- the named Applicant Organisation is the landowner or
- the named Applicant Organisation holds a valid lease with the landowner, with at least seven years of the term
Ineligibility Criteria
- They will not consider projects that will take place in a car park, school, pre-school, nursery, college, university, medical centre, hospital, hospice, zoo, shop, cafe, allotment, graveyard, crematoria area, road or where there is on-site accommodation
- historic building restoration, statues, monuments or memorials
- the purchase of land or a building
