The Northern Territory (NT) is accepting submissions for the Heritage Grants Program to fund conservation work to privately owned heritage places.
The Heritage Grants Program encourages conservation and management of the Northern Territory’s declared heritage places and objects including Aboriginal archaeological places.
The program is administered by the Heritage Branch in the Department of Lands, Planning and Environment.
Funding Information
- You can apply for up to $20,000.
What can be funded?
- You could qualify for funding if conservation work is needed to any of the following:
- buildings and other structures
- Aboriginal archaeological sites
- places of social significance including flora, fauna and geological sites
- Projects involving research and documentation may also be considered.
Eligible Project
- Eligible projects meet one or more of the following criteria:
- conservation works to stabilise a place or object; and/or
- conservation works that are required to protect significant fabric of a place or object; and/or
- research and documentation for preserving, protecting and managing a place or object; and/or
- interpretation and/or provides education initiatives that will help the public understand the heritage values of a place or object; and/or
- recognises the diverse heritage of the Northern Territory; and/or
- promotes public engagement with the heritage of the Northern Territory; and/or
- research about a place or object already protected under the Heritage Act or is historically significant to the Northern Territory.
Eligibility Criteria
- Funding is available to individuals and organisations.
- To be eligible for funding an individual must
- be 18 years or older
- be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident
- reside in the NT for the duration of funded activity
- Types of individiuals that are eligible to apply for funding include
- You can only apply if you are the owner of the place or object or provide a letter of endorsement from the owner.
- To be eligible for funding an organisation must:
- be physically located and actively operating in the NT
- Government grants and complied with all other accountability requirements
- Types of organisations that are eligible for funding include
- You can only apply if you are the owner of the place or object or provide a letter of endorsement from the owner.
- a private business
- a non-profit organisation
- a community group, including an Aboriginal organization
- To be eligible for funding an individual must
Ineligibility Criteria
- Ineligible applicants:
- The following are not eligible to apply for funding:
- Local governments
- Australian Government agencies
- NT Government agencies
- applicants with an overdue acquittal under GrantsNT (across all government agencies).
