The World Food Programme in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture are seeking applications to increase, protect, and maintain the natural ecosystems (farmland, rangeland, forest) in Jordan.
Purpose
- The proposed project will build on existing efforts from previous WFP projects or other relevant projects to deploy community based natural resources management activities by establishing and/or enhancing Community Sustainability Committees (CSC) in fourselected sites neighbouring forests and/or rangelands from the following governorates Ajloun, Balqa, Irbid, Jerash, Mafraq. The implementation of this project includes building the capacity of the CSCs on technical and non-technical aspects related to ecosystem enhancement, deploying nature-based solutions for natural resources management and building sustainable climate adaptive livelihoods.

Expected Outcomes
- Output 1: Capacity for CBNRM is built through establishment and registration of four CSCs or enhancement of existing CSCs selected from within the governorates of Ajloun, Balqa, Irbid, Jerash, Mafraq. Achievement of this output will strengthen the community-based committees to provide serve as focal points and advocate for sustainable and climate resilient natural resources management in the community.
- Output 2: CSCs are institutionalized through a time-bound workplan and are supported to sustainably enhance community-based livelihoods, raise awareness, organize events and volunteer opportunities related to sustainable and climate resilient natural resources management in the community.
- Output 3: A replicable model for community-led natural resources management in Jordan is established and documented. Achievement of this output will allow government and development partners to scale the tested model in future programming.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) registered in Jordan with at least 5 years of operational experience and has a functional governance structure and demonstrate financial stability and accountability.
- Proven experience in natural resources management, community development, community-based nature resources management, environmental conservation, and capacity building.
- Demonstrated experience to engage and empower local communities in decision making and resources governance.
- Experience in using participatory monitoring approaches and documenting lessons learnt and learning processes.
- Proven track record for collaboration with local government, private sector, research and academia and community stakeholders.
