Deadline: 27 July 2018
The Channel is seeking expressions of interest for its first ever Small Grants Round for Diverse Storytelling. Expressions of Interest will be in the form of a short (2 minutes max.) video, with some supplementary written responses to a few basic questions.
Do not spend any money on editing or producing video. The Channel is looking for lo-fi submissions shot on smart phone. Be creative, but not with an expensive camera or editing software.
If applicants doesn’t want to show a moving image, applicants can submit a video of a still image with a voice over. Do what will communicate the nature of applicant’s project most effectively / what applicants’re most comfortable with.
Guidelines
- The Channel will look favorably upon projects that:
- are willing to take a risk / agitate for change / get way outside the comfort zone!
- are smaller and community-led;
- take an intersectional approach;
- focus on areas that are particularly under-funded and/or have low awareness;
- have marginalised LGBTIQ+ communities at their centre, e.g. refugees and asylum seekers, people of color, Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, trans and gender diverse people etc.
- tell applicant’s story, or the story of people from a community with which applicants identify.
- Applicant’s video submission must be under 2 minutes and must cover three points:
- Who are applicants / what does the community group applicants represent?
- How will $2,500 support applicants to tell their story or have their voice heard (what will applicants do)?
- Who in the community will this benefit and how (what will the outcome be)?
