The Tropical Health and Educational Trust (THET) has announced a call for applications for large and small grants supporting health partnership projects with a focus on sustainability, scale-up and access.
The grants form part of the Health Partnership Scheme (HPS) which is a programme that funds health partnerships to carry out training and capacity-building projects in low and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia. The Scheme is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and managed by THET.
Funding Information
The extension includes a grants pool of a little over £1.5m. There are two tiers of funding:
- £15,000-£50,000
- £50,000-£120,000

Focus Countries
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications must be made by established health partnerships between UK health institution(s) and an overseas health institution(s) that have received funding under the HPS or from other sources in the past.
- Grants are for single, time-bound projects that are deliverable within the budget and timeframe proposed and agreed with THET.
- Projects must be operating within Ghana, Burma/Myanmar, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
- Exceptionally, grant applications for work in neighbouring countries that meet project and partnership requirements will be considered. Please note that this only applies to neighbouring countries that are low-income countries and DFID priority countries.
- Projects must be operating in one or more LMIC health institution.
