The House of Europe is seeking applications for the Translation Grants to support Ukrainian publishers in translating the most crucial texts to collect a library of literature in endangered languages.
Translate books from endangered languages into Ukrainian, and visa versa — from Ukrainian into engaged languages. Translation Grants will support you at each project stage, from translation to promo.
Funding Information
- Up to EUR 5,000 to translate a book from or into endangered languages: Belarusian, Gagauz, Yiddish, Karaite, Crimean Tatar, Krymchak, Roma, Rumey, or Urum languages.
- A chance to cover all the expenses: translation, editing, transfer of copyright, design, printing, and marketing of the book.
- An image project that will create a precedent on the Ukrainian market and become history.
- Membership in the alumni community bringing you even more grants, networking events, and fresh development opportunities daily.
What kind of books can be translated?
- Fiction: prose, poetry, drama, children’s literature, graphic novels, and comics
- Professional literature in the fields of culture and creative industries, education and youth work, social entrepreneurship, and media
- Non-fiction
Who can apply?
- They welcome Ukrainian publishing houses and organisations, registered as a legal entity: Ltd, non-governmental organisation, individual entrepreneur.
What do you need to apply?
- Supporting documents on the legal status of your organisation
- Copy of the signed contract with the translator
- Copy of the signed contract with the owner of rights or a letter of intent to sell the rights
- Budget plan, drafted in our budget form
- Marketing plan, drafted in our marketing plan form
- CVs of all of the key participants involved in the project.
- 10 pages of the original book
