The Rural Housing Service (RHS), an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) mission area herein referred to as the Agency announces the acceptance of applications under the Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) program.
These grants will be made to qualified intermediary organizations that will provide financial and technical assistance to recipients to develop their capacity and ability to undertake projects related to housing, community facilities, or community and economic development that will support the community.

- Estimated Total Program Funding: $4,000,000
- Award Ceiling: $250,000
- Award Floor: $50,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Applicants:
- City or township governments
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- State governments
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Independent school districts
- For profit organizations other than small businesses
- Private institutions of higher education
- County governments
- Small businesses
- Special district governments
- The Intermediary will be required to provide matching funds in an amount at least equal to the RCDI grant.
- The respective minimum and maximum grant amount per Intermediary is $50,000.00 and $250,000.00.
- The Recipient and Beneficiary, but not the Intermediary, must be located in a city or town that has a population of 50,000 or less inhabitants.
