The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking applications for research into immigration and crime.
With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for research projects that increase understanding of the relationship between immigration, both legal and illegal, and crime. Applicants should propose research projects that have clear implications for criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. NIJ encourages applicants to submit proposals for innovative approaches to advance the field’s rigor and methodology in understanding the relationship between immigration and crime.
The ultimate goal of this solicitation is increase understanding of the relationship between immigration and crime to better inform relevant criminal justice policy, practice, and programs.
Award Information
- NIJ expects to make one or more awards with an estimated amount of$3 million in FY 2019.
- Successful applicants will be expected to complete the work proposed within a five-year period of performance.

- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- For profit organizations other than small businesses

- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
