The United States Department of State’s Embassy in Brazil is seeking applications from qualified Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Educational Institutions and other qualified organizations for a Grant to implement the program entitled “USBEA Small Grants Program”.
Objectives
- Design, Facilitate and Manage a Transparent Process for Soliciting and Selecting Competitive Alumni Proposals
- Design and manage a small grants program to support efforts of USBEA alumni to share their experience within their communities.
- Create a mechanism to promote this opportunity among Mission Brazil’s USBEA alumni community and allow teams of alumni to compete for a small grants opportunity of up to approximately $2,000 per project following their participation in a Mission Brazil program, out of an overall of $30,000.
- Develop a review and evaluation process to determine proposals to be funded; include a selection panel for proposals to allow U.S. Mission Brazil participation in selection and final approval of projects.
- Promote Engagement of Alumni and Empowerment of USBEA Chapters
- To promote collaboration and network building, project proposals should involve a minimum of two State Department alumni, who are active members of an USBEA chapter in Brazil.
Grant Information
- The anticipated total federal funding amount should not exceed US$30,000.
- The period of performance is one year, with an anticipated start date of September 30, 2017.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants who are eligible to apply are U.S. and overseas-based Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Educational Institutions and other qualified organizations who are able to respond to the NOFO and be able to mobilize in a short period of time.
- To be eligible for a grant award, in addition to other conditions of this NOFO, organizations must have a commitment to non-discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices. Non-discriminatory includes equal treatment without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, and political affiliation.
- Applicants are reminded that U.S. Executive Orders and U.S. Law prohibits transactions with, and the provision of resources and support to, individuals and organizations associated with terrorism. It is the legal responsibility of the Recipient to ensure compliance with these Executive Orders and laws. This provision must be included in any sub-awards issued under this grant award.
- Proper and complete registrations and Applicants must acquire all required registrations in the United States and/or Brazil. All intellectual property considerations and rights must be fully met in the United States and Brazil. Local Brazilian partners (including sub-grantee) must have a valid Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Juridicas (CNPJ) number from the Government of Brazil.
- U.S Organizations are required to have a local based partner in Brazil in order to be eligible for this grant award.
- U.S. Embassy Brasilia, Brazil requires that applicants can demonstrate prior experience supporting alumni groups or small-scale community development or capacity building activities.
- U.S. Embassy Brasilia-Brazil encourages applications from potential new partners.
