The Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy is seeking applications for its U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) 2017 which was established to help countries preserve their cultural heritage and to demonstrate U.S. respect for other cultures.
Since its inception in 2001, the AFCP has helped preserve cultural sites, practices, and objects that are historically or culturally significant in Senegal and around the world. Since 2001, the AFCP, managed by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs has financed more than 750 projects to preserve cultural heritage in more than 120 countries.
Proposal Component
- Project title ;
- Project summary that explains the goals and expected results;
- A description of project activities to achieve these goals. Proposed activities must be logical and it must be clear how to activities will achieve the project goals;
- Project timeline with dates of key activities ;
- Explanataion of the historical, arhcitectural, artistic, or cultural (non-religious) signifanace of the cultural site, the object, the collection, or traditional form of expression;
- Explanation of the urgency and importance of the project ;
- Detailed Project Budget, demarcated in one-year budget periods, that lists all costs in separate categories (Personnel, Fringe Benefits, Travel [including Per Diem], Equipment, Supplies, Contractual, Other Direct Costs, Indirect Costs, Cost Sharing); indicates funds from other sources; and gives a justification for any anticipated international travel costs (templates available upon request from the Center). Budget Narrative explaining line by line how costs are estimated (quantity x unit cost, annual salary x percentage of time spent on project, etc.) and unique budget line items;Information on the project organization including the CVs of the director and main participants. Demonstrate that the organization and staff have the necessary experience and capacity to manage a cultural preservation project;
- A sustainability plan that shows how the organization continue the work of the project after the grant ;
- Proof of Official Permission to undertake the project;K. Attachments and Supporting Documents including, at a minimum and REQUIRED, five (5) high quality digital images (JPEGs) or audiovisual files that convey the nature and condition of the site, object, or form of expression and, in the case of a site or object, show the urgency or need for the proposed project (collapsing wall, water damage, worn fabric, broken handle, etc.), any historic structure reports, conservation needs assessments, and other planning documents compiled in preparation for the proposed project
