The Embassy of the United States of America in Kosovo is seeking applications for “Democracy Commission Small Grants Program” in order to support the development of Kosovo’s democratic institutions and civil society by awarding small project grants to Kosovo non-profit, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and independent local media organizations.
Target Areas
- Promoting Rule of Law, Legal Reform and Access to Justice
- Anti-Corruption and Anti-Trafficking Campaigns and Trainings
- Market Economy (including fair competition, regulation, and business practices)
- Transparency, Accountability and Ethics in Government
- Free Flow of Information (including support for independent media)
- Public Education and Advocacy
- Equal Opportunity for Women, and Ethnic and Other Minorities
- Conflict Resolution and Tolerance
- Environment
- Facilitation of Integration into the Euro-Atlantic Community
- Voter education campaign focused on improving communications between voters and candidates (in a non-partisan manner)
Funding Information
The maximum grant amount is USD 24,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. organizations and individuals are not eligible for grants under this program.
- The Democracy Commission does NOT fund projects such as the following:
- Fund-raising campaigns
- Humanitarian assistance projects
- Scientific research projects
- Projects with budgets that exceed $24,000 and take more than a year to implement
- Projects that duplicate existing projects being implemented by an organization
- Projects submitted by for-profit, commercial organizations
- Projects that aim to support partisan political activity
- Conferences and individual trips abroad
- Trade activities
