The State PEPFAR of the U.S. Embassy in Democratic Republic of the Congo is seeking proposals for funding under the PEPFAR Small Grant Program.
The State Department through the PEPFAR initiative provides grants intended to local organizations, media, academic institutions, individuals, think tanks, civil society organization and stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The PEPFAR small grants funds are allocated to HIV prevention, combatting discrimination against people with HIV, advocacy for effective government action, and capacity building for peer education.
Activities
- Provide public awareness campaigns; create demand for HIV services through traditional and social media.
- Increase awareness of PEPFAR activities.
- Promote linkage, adherence and retention of HIV+ patients on treatment through community-based outreach activities
- Provide feedback from client access and satisfaction on care and treatment service
- Mitigate stigma and discrimination against people with HIV including key population through screening of violence and schemes of reporting on stigma and discrimination
- Empower other civil society organizations for defeating stigma and discrimination
- Engage with multiple sectors of the government to promote effective policy in combatting HIV and protecting the rights of people with HIV including key population.
Funding Information
Grant projects generally must be completed in three year or less.
- Floor of Individual Award Amounts: $5,000
- Ceiling of Individual Award Amounts: $25,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Any awardee must be a local organization/group (local organizations and institutions from national or provincial governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, media, educational institutions, academic institutions, individuals, think tanks, and stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS …) located and registered in the DRC.
- PEPFAR implements activities in three provinces: Haut-Katanga, Kinshasa and Lualaba. Activities out of theses provinces are not eligible.
- Projects must directly benefit community-based groups, faith-based organizations, orphans and vulnerable children, or people living/affected with/by HIV/AIDS.
