The Small Grants Office of the U.S. Embassy Swaziland has announced that funding is available through the Embassy’s PEPFAR Small Grants Program.
The PEPFAR Small Grants Program on Orphans and Vulnerable Children is an initiative that will assist local organizations to implement small scale projects that address a range of HIV-related issues affecting orphans and vulnerable children all over Swaziland. The PEPFAR Small Grants activities should prioritize adolescents ages 10-17 and particularly adolescent girls in areas with the highest HIV burden.
Priorities
Preference is given to projects that:
- Support vulnerable children and their households
- Support of the community with OVCs
- Linkages to other HIV related services
- M&E for intervention evaluations of OVC programming
Funding Information
- Generally, the size of the grants will be between US$5,000 – $25,000.
- Only under exceptional circumstances will the U.S. Embassy award grants above US$25,000.
- Grants will be awarded for a one year period ending on or before September 30, 2018.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), faith-based organizations (FBOs) or groups of persons living with HIV (PLHIV) are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must:
- Demonstrate prior experience implementing projects similar or the same to the one proposed.
- Demonstrate an understanding of orphans and vulnerable children programming and strategies for enhancing the ability of communities to bring change in their respective communities with regard to gender norms and behaviors.
- Provide evidence of having previously managed donor funds in similar amounts and activities for which they are requesting.
- Demonstrate capacity for accountability and program implementation.
- Organizations that already receive direct funding or substantial support from the PEPFAR program are not eligible. Applicants should not duplicate already existing activities in their geographical area.
