The U.S. Consulate General, Public Affairs Section in Mumbai is seeking applications for its program entitled “Opportunities for U.S.-Indian Higher Education STEM Collaboration”.
A two-day conference in Mumbai will be organized in partnership with the U.S. Consulate and the Indian state of Maharashtra’s task-force on Globalization of Higher Education (GHE). Entitled “Opportunities for U.S.-Indian Higher Education STEM Collaboration,” the event would provide a platform for up to 15 universities from throughout the United States and at least 10 universities in the Indian state of Maharashtra to make in-person connections and explore areas of potential collaboration.
Program Goals
- Help deepen and broaden relationships between Indian and American institutions of higher education by capitalizing on legal and regulatory reforms and a growing demand for post-secondary education in India.
- Expand educational, professional, scientific, technological, and technical exchange opportunities to build partnerships in areas of shared focus.
- Increase the number of joint and sponsored research collaborations between U.S. and Indian institutions.
- Increase the number of student and professor exchanges between U.S. and Indian institutions.
- Build the capacity of Indian institutions to collaborate with U.S. higher education
- Lower regulatory barriers for U.S. universities to collaborate with Indian universities

Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations. Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
- Cost sharing is not required for this funding opportunity.
- Pre-award costs are not an allowable expense for this funding opportunity.
