Kirklees Year of Music (KYOM23) and disabled-led arts commissioners, Unlimited are offering a series of micro-commissions for disabled artists and organisations in Kirklees to explore, experiment and develop their music-led practice this year.
Funding Information
- Micro awards of up to £1000 are available to help test, research and develop a creative idea, which could be a performance, recording or sound installation.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applications are open to:
- Disabled artists or disabled-led organisations who live in or regularly work in Kirklees.
- Those aged 18+ and UK citizens.
- These commissions are open to any artists who identify as disabled, have long-term health conditions, or have access needs. This means, for example, you could be D/deaf, neurodivergent, experience mental health issues, be chronically ill, or clinically extremely vulnerable to COVID-19.
- They use the social model of disability and do not ask everyone to use the same terminology. You use what is comfortable for you.
Key Criteria
- Key criteria that they will assess applications against and that all commissioned work must achieve are:
- Disabled-led
- Music-led
- Kirklees based
- High quality
- Innovative and ambitious
- Grant monies awarded need to be spent by 31 December 2023.
- The work has the potential to reach multiple, diverse venues and audiences
Selection Process
- Your application is assessed by a panel of both independent artists and representatives from both partner organisations. The panel will be disability-led, meaning the majority (more than 50%) of the panellists will be disabled.
- All decisions regarding selection are at the discretion of KYOM23, its host organisation, Kirklees Council and Unlimited.
