The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is currently accepting proposals for its program entitled “Capacity Development of CSOs to Effectively Engage in Climate Change and DRR Actions”.
The implementing partner is expected to identify women led and managed CSOs working for women’s empowerment in project areas; assess their interest, experience and potential capacity to engage in gender inclusive disaster risk reduction, climate change and humanitarian actions, including advocacy and negotiations for the same purpose. In addition, the implementing partner will also build capacity of selected CSO’s based on the assessment report to effectively engage in DRR-CCA negotiations and planning.
Activities
- Identify potential civil society organization, their networks, local non-governmental organizations and women’s organizations; and assess their capacity to effectively engage in disaster risk reduction, climate change actions.
- Building capacity of selected civil society organization, their networks, local non-governmental organizations and women’s organizations to become gender advocates for gender responsive disaster risk reduction and climate change actions.
Competencies
- Technical/functional competencies required
- Proven technical competencies in disaster risk reduction, climate change, humanitarian actions and women’s empowerment.
- Demonstrated experiences in implementing programmes on disaster risk reduction, climate change, gender equality and women’s empowerment; and in formulating result oriented programme, monitoring programme based on indicators and quality reporting.
- Proven organizational experiences in building partnerships with women led organisations, CSOs, government agencies and other non-traditional partners.
- Demonstrates commitment to working with women and girls that are economically, politically, socially, culturally, or otherwise excluded, marginalized, and/or disempowered.
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
