The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women)/Jordan is inviting civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations to submit proposals for Strengthening Capacities of Women’s Civil Society Organizations in Evidence-based Advocacy and Women, Peace and Security Agenda.
Outcomes
The programme ‘Strengthening Capacities of Women’s Civil Society Organizations in Evidence-based Advocacy and Women, Peace and Security Agenda,’ will work toward the achievement of three outcomes:
- Women CBOs have enhanced capacities on Women, Peace and Security agenda and evidence-based advocacy for advancing women’s rights especially for most vulnerable groups in Jordan
- Women CBOs have increased meaningful participation in the decision making process for effective implementation of Jordanian National Action Plan (JONAP) and Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Jordan
- Coordination among women CBOs and civil society networks has improved for advancing women’s rights especially most vulnerable groups
Timeframe
The project should be completed within 24 months of contracting with the selected organizations.
Criteria
- National NGOs with minimum 7 years of sound experience working on gender equality, women’s rights, women, peace and security (WPS) agenda, advocacy, particularly with the focus on empowering women’s groups, CBOs and grassroot organizations in Jordan
- Good knowledge and understanding of relevance of women, peace and security agenda in Jordan and provisions of JONAP
- Sound experience in providing capacity building training for women’s CBOs or grassroots groups in women’s rights, WPS and advocacy
- The applicant must demonstrate experience in implementing similar programmes/projects on gender equality and/or women’s empowerment and advocacy with the special focus on building capacities of women’s CBOs and organizations in Jordan through an organization resume of past experiences and areas of expertise
- Experience working in different governorates in Jordan
- Knowledge of the overall context in Jordan, particularly relating to women’s issues, gender equality policy and national framework
- Familiarity with UN’s commitment with the humanitarian-development-peace nexus
- Demonstrate integrity by modeling the UN’s values and ethical standings
- Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
- Ability to lead strategically including management and reporting
- Ability to contribute to the formulation and oversight of implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the initiative
- Demonstrate openness to change and ability to manage complexities
- Proven networking, team-building organizational and communication skills
