UN Women is seeking proposals for its program to provide support in advancing understanding of journalists and media towards greater gender equality.
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative and direct supervision of UN Women Communications Specialist, the selected company (further referred to as Contractor) will be responsible to provide support in conducting a series of activities, divided into two major Directions, generally aimed at strengthening media understanding on gender sensitive storytelling.
Scope of Work
- Part 1: The Contractor is expected to provide support to international consultant in coordination and launching a 8-months “Capacity Building Programme for journalists, 2018 edition”, which will be composed of the following stages:
- up to 3 one-day capacity building sessions,
- contest for participants at the capacity building on writing and creating media materials/articles, awarding Gala,
- study mission in an European advance country in terms of promoting gender equality in media and communications for the winners of the contest.
- Part 2: The Contractor is expected to provide logistical support and contribute with conceptual support to Audiovisual Coordinating Council (ACC) in mainstreaming gender equality in their work, in terms of advising the International Consultant related to the context and background of the Republic of Moldova in the media field.
Eligibility Criteria
- Officially registered legal entity as per Republic of Moldova’s regulations, with full capacity;
- At least 5 years’experience of working in media environment;
- At least 3 years’ experience in the area of networking and building capacities of audio-visual,on line, print media and journalist;
- Understanding and adherence to the principles of Human Rights, especially Women’s Human Rights, and Gender Equality is required;
- Previous experience in organization of various contest, including writing contests, will be considered an asset;
- Previous work experience with international organizations, particularly UN Women or other UN agencies will be considered an asset.
The team must include:
- Task manager
- University Degree in journalism, communication, public relations, social sciences, or equivalent working experience in the sector;
- At least 5 years of previous experience in undertaking similar exercise on the area of expertise (experience in the area of media development, promotion of human rights and/or gender equality in media, enhancing capacities of media outlets and journalists);
- At least 3 years of professional experience in management and implementation of media projects and programmes at national level, with a special focus on capacity building for media;
- Previous work experience in women’s empowerment and/or gender equality;
- Experience with UN or other organizations, including donors and stakeholders;
- Proficient in Romanian, Russian and English
- Team members
- University Degree in journalism, communication, public relations, social sciences, or equivalent working experience in the sector;
- At least 3 years of previous experience in undertaking similar exercise on the area of expertise required (experience in the area of media development, promotion of human rights and/or gender equality in media, enhancing capacities of media outlets and journalists);
- Previous work experience in promotion of human rights and/or gender equality in media;
- Experience with UN or other organizations, including donors and stakeholders;
- Proficient in Romanian and Russian
