The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Afghanistan is seeking proposals to provide support to establishment of Family Guidance Centers (FGC) in Afghanistan.
Since 2002, the UN Women Afghanistan has been supporting the government of Afghanistan and its partners with the overall goal to Eliminate Violence Against Women (EVAW). UN Women is further expanding its EVAW Programme, particularly with regard to building capacity and providing more coherent and specialized support for EVAW initiatives, as implemented by both government and civil society organizations.
Within the overall goal of contributing to prevent violence against women and girls and expand access to the services in Afghanistan, working together with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Civil Society, UN Women Afghanistan, through the EVAW SF, will continue protection services to women affected by violence and their families in the abovementioned provinces.
Benefits of Family Guidance Centers
- The FGC provide family mediation, legal assistance, counselling for reintegration into families, psychosocial counselling and referral.
- The services provided though the FGCs to the VAW survivors, is expected to reduce the number of women entering Women Protection Centers.
- The FGC provides legal assistance to survivors of VAW through legal representation in the formal legal system in civil and criminal cases, or may resolve cases through direct mediation, or employing the local Elimination of Violence against Women (EVAW) Commission.
- The FGC also supports families in conflict resolution, life skills, family and household management, and implement awareness raising initiative to promote equal rights between women and men and under Islamic principles.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants should meet the following criteria. Proposals which do NOT meet the criteria stated below will NOT be considered.
UN Women will not consider proposals from:
- Organization that is not registered and does not has legal status in Afghanistan
- Individuals without any organizational affiliation;
- UN agencies and affiliated UN agencies;
- Organizations that do not have an office in Afghanistan;
- Government entities.
