The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking projects for “The Global Environment Facility Microfinance Program (GEF)” which is a financial mechanism, to reduce global environmental threats through community-based initiatives.
Its strategy is to provide direct technical and financial support of up to 50,000 USD to civil society organizations to support community-based initiatives that contribute to the conservation of natural resources and enhance the resilience of poor and vulnerable populations.
Focus Areas
- biodiversity,
- climate change,
- international waters,
- land degradation,
- chemicals and hazardous wastes.
Priorities
Priority will be given to innovative community initiatives aimed at:
- restoring and conserving natural and critical ecosystems, including community forests and sacred sites
- the dissemination of good agricultural, forestry and fisheries production practices
- the diversification of the resources and livelihoods of vulnerable social groups through the development of micro-enterprises based on sustainable exploitation and the development of biodiversity resources
Eligibility Criteria
- On behalf of the eighth round of GEF / GEF funding in Togo, NGOs, non-profit development associations and grass-roots, qualified and interested community organizations are invited to submit a copy of the document proving their legal existence In Togo and a short note on their organization and project, following the program form available at the National Coordination and on the UNDP Togo website.
- The Concept Note for the organization and the project must be written in French.
