The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking Proposals for the Project Entitled “Cohesion to prevent violence in the Governorates of Medenine, Tataouine and Gabes”.
The overall objective of this call for proposals is to strengthen social cohesion in the Governorates of Gabes, Médenine and Tataouine. The preferred avenues will be the strengthening of citizen solidarity and the consolidation of relationships of trust and respect between citizens and public authorities.
Topics of the Call for Proposals Concerned
- The associative projects submitted must relate to priority areas and themes related to the strengthening of social cohesion according to the following UNDP definition:
- Social cohesion can be described along two main dimensions:
- The vertical dimension, which represents the relationship and the social contract between citizens and public institutions
- The horizontal dimension, which refers to the bonds of solidarity and respect between individuals and social groups.

Areas of intervention/Indicative themes
- Prevention of violence
- Support for dialogue and mediation processes in conflict contexts
- Support for cooperative and collaborative action in the face of local issues
- Support for citizen initiatives carried out by youth
- Support for memory initiatives that promote an inclusive history
- Confidence Building
- Support for active citizen participation in solidarity initiatives between citizensÿneÿs and/or between citizensÿneÿs and public institutions
- Support for social accountability and transparency mechanisms for the improvement of basic public services in response to the needs of usersÿeÿs
- Support for the structured and sustainable commitment of civil society with a view to improving consideration of the needs of citizensÿneÿs and constructive cooperation with public institution
Funding Information
- The financial support proposed by the UNDP within the framework of this call for proposals is capped at 40,000 TND per project.
- UNDP support may cover up to 100% of the total cost of the action (ie the applicant is not required to contribute financially to the project submitted).
- Duration: The expected duration of a project should not exceed 5 months.
Initiatives should incorporate the following activities:
- Production of a learning report relating to the execution of the proposed activities:
- Identification of sources of tension within the company, analysis of the effectiveness of the strategies for mitigating and strengthening social cohesion put in place, challenges and opportunities in carrying out the activity;
- Screening of the documentary film “On the margins ”3 and animation of a debate: report of documentation of reactions and comments from the public, identification of avenues for promoting dialogue around the themes raised by the film;
- Programmatic proposal specifying themes, objectives and approaches that should be promoted by Tarabot with the aim of strengthening social cohesion; ideal duration and desirable budget ceiling, support needs and capacity building of the association.
Geographical Area
- The financial support proposed by the UNDP within the framework of this call for proposals is aimed at associative initiatives that will be implemented in the Governorates of Médenine, Gabès and Tataouine.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must meet the following conditions to be eligible for a grant:
- Be a civil society
- Organization whose head office and activities are based in the governorate in which the project will be implemented;
- Be an association constituted in accordance with the
- Laws and regulations in force;
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and
- Management of the action and not limit yourself to an intermediary role;
- Be independent of political parties/movements;
- The declaration of the leaders of the association of their assets and interests in accordance with the provisions of law n ° 2018-46 of August 01, 2018, relating to the declaration of assets and interests, the fight against illicit enrichment and the conflict of interest ;
- Registration in the national register of companies in accordance with the provisions of law n°2018-52 of October 29, 2018, relating to the national register of companies.
- Cannot participate in calls for proposals, nor be beneficiaries of a grant, applicants and partners:
- Who are in a state or who are the subject of a procedure of bankruptcy, liquidation, judicial settlement or preventive composition, cessation of activity, or who are in a similar situation resulting from a procedure of the same nature existing in national laws and regulations;
- Who, in the context of a grant awarded by the UNDP or another UN organization, have been declared in serious breach of execution due to non-compliance with their contractual obligations.
- Are excluded from participation in the call for proposals or cannot benefit from a grant, applicants who, at the time of the call for proposals and during its evaluation:
- Are in a situation of conflict of interest;
- Made false declarations when applying for the call for proposals or failed to provide the required information to UNDP.
Action Eligibility
- The eligibility of actions is determined by the following conditions:
- The duration of an action cannot be greater than the duration of the project;
- The action themes must fall within the framework of the themes of this call for proposals
- The actions must be carried out within the framework of the planned geographical coverage
- The following types of actions are not eligible
- Activities aimed at a population of children (< 18 years old)
- Training of trainers;
- The production of participating
