Deadline: 22-Mar-2024
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has announces the Call for Concept Papers within COMDEKS-4, to promote and support local initiatives to promote the sustainable use of natural resources in land and sea landscapes.
The community level initiatives focused on:
- Sustainable management of forest, wetland, mountain, dryland, coastal and marine ecosystems.
- Policy development and institutionalization in relevant sector policies and strategies that promote the implementation of other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs)
- Promotion and realization of Circulating and Ecological Economy, while localizing the implementation of SDGs through the implementation of nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction; community-based energy saving and renewable energy production; waste management; and other related activities.
This Phase 4 of the programme is aimed to provide valuable contribution to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, including in relation to target 3 on the “30 by 30” goals to expand conservation of biodiversity in 30 percent of the landscapes and seascapes globally, target 2 on restoration of at least 30 percent of the degraded lands, and target 10 on sustainable use of biodiversity in agriculture, forestry and other production sectors. The programme will also contribute to implement sustainable use of biodiversity resources at the socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes in diverse countries under their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAP). Lessons learned from the implementation of the 4th phase of the programme will be disseminated through the global network of 128 SGP Country Programmes, the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI), and other partners worldwide for further upscaling and replication.
