The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Timor-Leste is inviting NGOs/CBOs/CSOs or Media Institutions to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for its Micro-Capital Grant Project on “Strengthening Political Journalism in Timor-Leste”.
Expected Outcomes
- Enhanced civic awareness and knowledge of voters through outreach and information dissemination by community radio programmes.
- Design and produce community radio programmes to educate voters and promote debate on the elections;
- Develop and implement a radio outreach strategy on the elections for the general population via community radio stations;
- Create and distribute PR materials (such as posters and stickers) to promote civic outreach events;
- Increase platforms for engagement of youth and women for civic dialogue and political participation through community radio programmes;
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of radio outreach activities;
- Produce and broadcast regular radio programmes on election-related topics including participatory radio shows;
- Increased capacity and civic knowledge of community radio journalists to produce radio programmes of high quality on political affairs.
- Identify areas for improvement to create and implement a capacity building plan in community radio stations leading up to each election;
- Provide technical assistance to produce a variety of radio programmes including talk-shows, dramas, and educational progarmmes etc.
- Conduct an advocacy campaigns on increasing the political participation of women and youth leading up to the 2017 elections in coordination with other media actors
Funding Information
- The grant is for a maximum amount of $100,000.
- The implementation period for the grants is between 12 months and must be completed by October 2017.
Eligibility Criteria
- UNDP Timor-Leste hereby invites interested registered international and local Non-Governmental Organizations and National Institutions (CBOs, CSOs)or Media Institutions to submit their Expression of Interest for the implementation of the project.
- Legally established entity (at least 2 years) with proven track record in implementation of projects and activities. Institution Registration and Profile
- Previous experience of working with the UN or other development agencies, preferably in the areas of work specified in this announcement.
- Strength of personnel (with experience in project implementation) accountants, key staff and specialized technical staff as well as administration and finance.
- Introduction and confirmation of technical capability, sound financial management from Authorities/Agencies based on previous activities/projects implemented.
- Evidence of demonstrated capacity and experience in implementing activities in municipalities.
