The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Uganda is seeking applications for the program entitled “Engaging Adolescents in adaptive thinking and advocacy for community resilience” with an aim to systematically strengthen the capacity of young people in refugees hosting districts to formulate practical adaptive solutions to reduce disaster risk in school communities and to build a network of young disaster resilience leaders.
The key output for the research is an evidence-based strategic approach to designing adolescent/youth-led adaptive solutions to build community resilience.
Funding Information: The estimated budget of the assignment is USD 100,000.
Expected Outcomes
- Equip adolescent/youth with skill needed to address local disaster resilience issues by supporting them to develop scalable adaptive solutions and commit to tangible actions that can improve community resilience.
- Develop mechanism to promote sustainable learning and resource sharing among adolescents/youth and to promote open dialogue between residents and community leaders on environmental hazards that threaten their community.
Eligibility Criteria
- Extensive and semonstrable experiance of mplementing high quality reaserch on adolecent and youth isssues, conflict and Disaster Risk management programs, emergency/refugees education, peace building in Uganda and/or East Africa.
- Experiencing in liasing with divense interlocutors(goverment, communities, private Sector, international and lical CSOs) in support of field reaserch interventions.
- Ability to develop in group dynamics.
- Ability to develop high quality analytical reports, documentation and visual briefings.
- Strong communication skills.
