UNOPS has announced a call for proposals for its 2018 Mine Risk Education in Sudan to reduce casualties among the Sudanese population, IDPs, refugees and humanitarian actors through risk education.
The selected organization will conduct its activities through a grant support agreement with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Eligibility Criteria
- This Call for Proposal is open to non-national and international non-governmental organizations registered by the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC). No governmental agencies, departments or ministries are eligible.
- The organization should be registered with NMAC and have teams capable of conducting activities requested in this Call for Proposal.
- Minimum requirements/qualifications:
- Only organizations with a minimum experience of one year, in partnership or as an independent entity in implementing successful Mine Risk Education (MRE) projects in Sudan, may apply.
- Organizations must have an adequate management, financial, administrative and technical structure and capacity to conduct the proposed activities.
- At least three (3) MRE teams to be deployed to IDPs/refugees camps and affected communities in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states to conduct MRE activities for at least twelve months of operations excluding preparations, refresher trainings, mobilizations, and demobilizations.
- In the proposal, the organization should also express its capacity to add up to one (1) additional MRE team in the same project period if needed.
- Direct MRE activities including but not limited to direct sessions, public campaign, community-based risk education.
- Provision of MRE through radio broadcasting and TV broadcasting for at least 18 months.
- Broadcast mine risk education messages in 13 local languages in South Kordofan and 5 local languages in Blue Nile state respectively
- Team’s compositions shall be according to the Sudan National Technical Standards and Guidelines.
- Partnership between organizations/implementing partners will be considered.
- The team shall be self-sustaining to deploy in remote villages and IDP camps, under challenging security conditions, for the duration of each task.
- Organizations should make provision of security, including provision of escorts, for the deployment of the teams and other personnel for the entire project period.
