USAID-Pretoria: Seeking Applications for Preventing HIV/AIDS in Vulnerable Populations

The United States Agency for International Development is seeking applications for its grant program entitled “Preventing HIV/AIDS in Vulnerable Populations” to accelerate and sustain HIV epidemic control in South Africa through the delivery of high-impact HIV prevention, care and support services.


  • improve the health and wellbeing of OVC, adolescents and youth who are living with, affected by and vulnerable to HIV;
  • support school based HIV Prevention and GBV prevention;
  • scale up effective community based violence prevention interventions;
  • Prevent new HIV infections among priority populations.
  • The Activity will support evidence-based interventions proven to mitigate the impact of HIV on children, adolescents and their families and prevent new infections among AGYW, including those who have experienced violence, as well as among migrant and mobile populations (in select sub-districts).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligibility is restricted to local entities. For purposes of consistency and reporting, the definition of “local entity” means an individual, a corporation, a nonprofit organization, or another body of persons that:
    • Is legally organized under the laws of South Africa;
    • Has as its principal place of business or operations in South Africa;
    • Is majority owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of South Africa; and
    • Is managed by a governing body the majority of who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the country receiving assistance.
