The United States Agency for International Development Southern Africa (USAID/SA) is seeking applications from a qualified organization to fund a program entitled “Ready, Resourceful, Risk Aware (Triple R): Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Adolescent Girls and Young Women” to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among priority populations: orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), adolescent girls (AG), and young women (YW) in Swaziland.
The strategic objective supports GKoS multi-sector strategies and priorities for HIV mitigation and prevention, with an emphasis on minimizing negative impacts of HIV on OVC, AGYW, addressing social, behavioral and structural drivers of HIV, and improving access to comprehensive SRH services to prevent new infections.
Target Groups
- Orphans and vulnerable children aged 0-17, especially
- Children and adolescents who have lost one or both parents
- Children and adolescents living with HIV
- Children and adolescents who have dropped out of school
- Children and adolescents whose caregivers are PLHIV
- Children of Female Sex Workers
- Children who have been neglected or abused
- Children and adolescents in child headed households
- HIV exposed infants
- Adolescent girls aged 15-19, especially
- Girls not in school
- Sexually active girls
- Pregnant teenagers and young mothers
- Girls at risk of engaging in transactional and/or intergenerational sex
- Young women aged 20 – 29, especially
- Unemployed women and women in low income employment
- Women who do not live in family support structures
- Women who do not know their HIV status
- Women who are not in stable relationships
- Pregnant women and new mothers
Funding Information
- USAID intends to provide $40,000,000 in total USAID funding over a five-year period.
- The ceiling for this program is $40,000,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. and non-US organizations may participate under this program. These may include Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs), Public International Organizations (PIOs), local nongovernmental organizations, faith-based organizations (FBOs), universities, foundations, forprofit entities and others.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations which have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
