The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications from qualified organisations to fund a program entitled “RANO WASH (Rural Access to New Opportunities in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)” with an aim to increase access to sustainable water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in targeted rural areas of Madagascar.
The project will also contribute to the USAID/Madagascar/Health, Population, and Nutrition Office’s Health Sector Strengthening Project and Strategy through contributions to “Sustainable health impacts accelerated for the Malagasy people,” including cross-cutting support to all four of its intermediate target areas (mentioned below).
Objectives
RANO-WASH will
- Expand access to sustainable WASH services;
- Facilitate improved behaviors and use of those services;
- Develop and support public-private partnerships;
- Strengthen governance at the community, commune, regional, and national levels.
Funding Information
- Subject to funding availability, USAID intends to provide approximately $30 Million in total USAID funding over a five years (5) period.
- The ceiling for this program is approximately $30 Million. Actual funding amounts are subject to availability of funds.

- Care seeking and healthy behaviors adopted
- Availability and use of quality integrated health services increased
- Health system and WASH sector performance improved
- Enabling environment for health strengthened
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. and non-U.S. organizations may participate under this NFO.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations which have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
- Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs): Qualified U.S. and non-U.S. private nonprofit organizations may apply for USAID funding under this NFO. Foreign government owned parastatal organizations from countries that are ineligible for assistance under the FAA or related appropriations acts are ineligible.
- For-Profit Organizations: Qualified U.S. and non-U.S. for-profit organizations may apply for USAID funding under this NFO.
