The Auckland Council is seeking applications for the Whau Local Grant Programme that aims to provide contestable and discretionary community rants to local communities.
Priorities
- The Whau Local Board welcomes grant applications that align with one of more of the following priorities and deliver initiatives and activities to achieve the Whau Local Board plan:
- Strong, resilient, and inclusive communities where local identity, diversity and creativity are nurtured
- Maori aspirations are advanced and prioritised, and Maori history and identity are valued and reflected in their community spaces
- Quality urban development and community facilities to meet the needs of their growing and changing population
- Improved and expanded opportunities for walking cycling and public transport
- Their natural environment is protected and enhanced
- Thriving town centers, a strong local economy and neighborhood that are supportive and connected
High Priorities
- Resident-led projects that help strengthen and connect neighborhoods and town centers
- Activities that improve Maori and Pasifika outcomes
- New initiative that supports resilience in communities
Lower Priorities
- They will consider applications for other services, projects, events and activities outside the current priorities, however these will be considered a lower priority. The Whau Local Board will consider the following activities as lower priorities:
- Administration and salary costs
- Events which charge an admission fee
- Applicants who have already received one successful grant application within the current financial year
- Where the applicant has a considerable cash surplus (relative to the amount applied for), unless they can verify that it is a tagged reserve and cannot be used as a contribution towards the submitted project
- Applicants who have not considered other sources of funding for their project.
Funding Information
- Grant value: $2000 – $8000.
- Quick Response Grants: for grants $500 to $2,000
- Local Grants: Generally, for grants $2,000 to $8,000.
