Deadline: 30-Nov-2025
The ALAMIME consortium has announced an opportunity for officers working in Malaria programmes to enhance their leadership, analytical and evidence-based decision-making capacities through the Certificate in Leadership, Management and Governance for Malaria Eradication.
The programme aims to train people working in malaria programmes in the respective countries at national and sub-national levels to increase their analytical and problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and implementation of evidence-based policies and approaches that adapt to the changing malaria landscape to support the transition from malaria control to elimination.
Alongside individual capacity building, the programme aims to establish fora within the respective Ministries of Health that will bring together stakeholders supporting malaria eradication as well as alumni of the ALAMIME programme to drive malaria eradication efforts in the country.
The training will cover 180 hours consisting of four online modules and a practicum. Module 1 introduces leadership, management, and data use for malaria elimination, followed by Module 2, which focuses on leading and managing programmes. Module 3 delves into the science and art of malaria elimination, while Module 4 emphasizes data use and evidence for decision-making.
The practicum involves the analysis of malaria programme data and the generation of countermeasures. In addition, participants will engage in alumni activities such as monthly webinars and participation in a community of practice.
Each module will run for one week, amounting to 40 hours per module, with assessments conducted during class. The practicum will be equivalent to 20 hours and includes generating a case study, conducting a training session on malaria eradication, and submitting a report on data analysis and proposed interventions.
Successful participants will be awarded a Certificate in Leadership, Management and Governance for Malaria Eradication by the ALAMIME consortium. Graduates will also join the alumni network, participating in ongoing activities to sustain malaria eradication efforts. The programme is fully funded by the Gates Foundation, and participants will not be required to pay any tuition fees.
Applicants must be officers working in malaria control or elimination programmes at either the national or sub-national level in one of the nine consortium member countries, including Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Benin.
Applicants must complete the official application form and submit a single PDF containing a one-page motivation letter, a four-page CV (as per the provided sample), and a reference letter from their current employer. The application deadline is Sunday, 30th November 2025, with successful candidates notified by Tuesday, 9th December 2025.
Training will commence with Module One in January 2026, followed by Modules Two, Three, and Four in February, March, and May 2026, respectively. Detailed module schedules will be shared upon admission. The ALAMIME consortium promotes equal opportunity and will ensure fair representation of women during the selection process.
