The program enhances participants’ knowledge of U.S. history, government, institutions, society, and culture while developing their leadership skills.
Focus Areas
- Qualified applicants must be able to demonstrate:
Interest in the topic of women’s leadership;
Commitment to returning to Lebanon to complete university studies;
Commitment to community and extracurricular activities;
Willingness to participate in all aspects of the program; and

SUSI Program for Secondary School Educators 2025 (Lebanon)

The U.S. Embassy Beirut is pleased to announce the 2025 Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) for Secondary School Educators.
SUSI programs are intensive post-graduate level academic programs that provide foreign secondary educators and administrators the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, and institutions. The goal is to strengthen curricula and enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in secondary schools and other academic institutions abroad. The Study of the U.S. Institutes for Secondary Educators will take place over the course of five weeks beginning between late-May and early-June 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
- Lebanese citizens or holders of the Special Travel Document for Palestinian Refugees issued by the Lebanese authorities. U.S. citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates should be mid-career, typically between the ages of 30-50.
- Highly motivated, experienced secondary school teachers or administrators, curriculum developers, textbook writers, or ministry of education officials are encouraged to apply.

Applications open for Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program (Lebanon)

The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon is inviting applications for its Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and people of other countries.
The program aims to provide educational exchange experiences to individuals not previously afforded such an opportunity, and the experience should be valuable to the scholar; the scholar’s home institution, both faculty and students; and the U.S. host institution. Fulbright Scholars serve as cultural ambassadors and should be prepared to speak about their countries, cultures, and research to academic and community groups.
Eligibility Criteria
- Hold a Lebanese Passport or a Special Travel Document for Palestinian Refugees. Those individuals selected for this program must submit a passport bio data page copy. U.S. citizens, dual U.S. citizens, or U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs or green card holders) are not eligible for this program.
- Hold a doctoral degree or equivalent professional training and teaching at an accredited Lebanese institution of higher education at the time of application.
- Have English language proficiency appropriate to the proposed teaching and/or research project to be carried out in the United States.
- Be able to submit a Medical History and Examination Report after selection but before their grants can be finalized.

The U.S. Embassy Beirut is pleased to announce the 2025 Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Global Student Leaders on Religious Diversity and Democracy.
This is an intensive five-week academic program to provide undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the United States, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills.
