The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is organizing a workshop in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, from May 14–16, 2026, targeting communicators and content creators focused on renewable energy and environmental reporting. The initiative aims to enhance skills in coverage, storytelling, and solutions journalism while providing hands-on learning experiences.
Workshop Focus
Participants will gain training and insights on:
- Understanding renewable energy transitions
- Strengthening informative and solutions-based coverage
- Enhancing social media storytelling for engagement and clarity
- Combating misinformation and disinformation
- Building practical communication and content creation skills through field visits and mentorship
The program includes a field visit to observe renewable energy projects and interact with experts and community practitioners.
Participant Profile
The workshop is designed for:
- Content creators across short-form video platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X)
- Journalists and communicators in print, online, radio, television, or social media
- Influencers and storytellers actively covering environment, energy, lifestyle, science, politics, or health
Priority is given to:
- Applicants from Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states
- Women, early- and mid-career professionals
- Individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds or indigenous communities
- Content creators with over 20,000 followers
Secondary consideration is extended to applicants from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh.
Funding & Support
Selected participants receive full financial support, including:
- Travel expenses
- Accommodation for the workshop duration
- Meals during the event
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Commit to attending all three days of the workshop
- Demonstrate a clear interest in renewable energy issues
- Permit republication of any outputs produced during participation
- Be transparent about any use of generative AI tools in submissions
For content creators:
- Regularly post short-form videos on relevant topics
- Those with large audiences (20,000+ followers) have an advantage
For communicators:
- Actively report on environment or energy issues
- Maintain a professional presence on social media
Failure to disclose AI use or unethical practices may result in disqualification.
