Applicants are invited to apply for 2016 N-Peace Awards with an aim to support women’s leadership for peace and social cohesion in Asia.
Eligibility Criteria
I: Untold Stories – women transforming their communities (one from each country)
- Women from the Philippines, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka or Pakistan are eligible.
- Must be aged 30 years or older and must not have previously won an N-Peace Award.
- Must uphold the values of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- Must have demonstrated capacity in mobilizing people and resources for peacebuilding especially at the sub-regional level.
- Must have wide-ranging experience in advocating for systemic change relating to women’s inclusion in conflict prevention, resolution, peacebuilding or security particularly at a sub-regional level.
- Must be willing to have information about their work used for advocacy purposes through the N-Peace network.
- Must be residing in the Asia-Pacific region at the time of being nominated.
II: Campaigning for Action – women and men mobilizing for peace at the sub-national levels (single award)
- Women and men from the Philippines, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka or Pakistan are eligible.
- Must be aged 30 years or older and must not have previously won an N-Peace Award.
- Must uphold the values of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- Must have demonstrated capacity in mobilizing people and resources for peacebuilding especially at the sub-regional level.
- Must have wide-ranging experience in advocating for systemic change relating to women’s inclusion in conflict prevention, resolution, peacebuilding or security particularly at a sub-regional level.
- The nominee could be a representative of a civil society, a public servant or a government official priority at the sub-national level. For example, the nominee could be a police officer who has sought and achieved national policy change on women and security, or a member of a district council who has consistently advocated for the inclusion of women in peace processes and mobilized resources to implement this.
- Must be willing to have information about their work used for advocacy purposes through the N-Peace network.
- Must be residing in the Asia-Pacific region at the time of being nominated.
III: The Peace Generation – young women and men building peace through volunteerism (one woman and one man)
- Women and men from the Philippines, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka or Pakistan are eligible.
- Must be aged 25 years or younger at the time of nomination and must not have previously won an N-Peace Award.
- Must uphold the values of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
