Norad has announced a funding opportunity aimed at strengthening the humanitarian sector through policy engagement, knowledge development, and innovation.
This initiative aligns with Norway’s humanitarian strategy, which emphasizes the need for systems-wide improvements, innovations enhancing accountability and protection, and reforms informed by evidence from humanitarian research.
The call invites applications from non-profit, non-governmental organizations, with a particular encouragement for organizations based in the Global South. The focus is on supporting organizations that work at the intersection of policy engagement, knowledge development, and innovation, contributing to humanitarian system reform.
The estimated total funding available is approximately NOK 22 million, with preference given to proposals requesting between NOK 2 million and NOK 5 million. Norad aims to enter into 5 to 7 grant agreements based on this call for proposals.
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support organizations that bring insight, skills, capacities, and diverse voices into debates on how to reform the humanitarian system, strengthen crisis response, and hold governments and organizations accountable to humanitarian principles. By focusing on policy engagement, knowledge development, and innovation, the initiative seeks to contribute to the goals of Norway’s humanitarian strategy, particularly those emphasizing comprehensive humanitarian response and evidence-informed reforms.
