The ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project Phase 2 (ACCEPT II), a collaborative project between the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), invites researchers to submit proposals for original research.
Proposals should be on topics relevant for net-zero emissions in the Southeast Asian energy sector and deal with energy or climate policy, technical analysis, social-economic analysis, theory, simulation and modelling, or advanced deployment. Many different topics are welcome as long as they are relevant for net-zero emissions in the ASEAN countries.
The project will further assist ACE in improving the effectiveness of institutional governance when dealing with climate-related energy issues. The project promotes the integration of energy and climate policy through the involvement of key ASEAN stakeholders. It also promotes public engagement to increase awareness of the importanceof the energy-climate nexus, as well as gender equality in the energy sector through.
Funding Information
- ACCEPT II will fund up to USD 8,000 (eight thousand US dollars, each study may have a different value) per selected proposal.
- The research should be conducted over 2–8 months or between August 2023 and March 2024. At the end of the engagement, the researchers / experts must complete and submit the deliverables: an article published in a recognized international journal with peer review and a policy brief.
Eligibility Criteria
With a role to conduct study on the proposed and agreed topic pertaining Southeast Asia netzero emission, the researcher(s) should meet below requirements:
- Group of researchers, or institutions may submit proposals.
- The applicant(s) should have a proven academic record and technical competence on a topic related to net-zero emissions, carbon neutrality or the energy transition.
- Experience from research on ASEAN / Southeast Asia energy and climate issues is an advantage, but not a requirement.
- A team that includes members from different institutions or organizations is an advantage.
- If the applicant is more than one individual, at least the team leader must fulfil all requirements above.
- Researchers are allowed to submit more than one proposal. However, he / she is allowed to be a team leader for only one proposal and not in the other submitted proposals.
