NIKK is seeking applications for its Nordic Gender Equality Fund to stimulate Nordic gender equality cooperation within the framework of the gender equality ministers’ cooperation programme and the priorities therein.
Funding is only granted to projects expected to generate both Nordic value and added gender equality value.
All applications must state and will be assessed based on how well the following aspects are considered:
- Nordic value: Nordic value occurs when an activity:
- generates significant positive effects through Nordic cooperation
- manifests and develops the Nordic community
- contributes to Nordic competence and competitiveness
- Added gender quality value: Added gender equality value occurs when an activity:
- contributes to equal opportunities for care, power and influence for women and men
- contributes to joint development of and/or sharing of experiences regarding methods, models, knowledge and/or resources for the Nordic gender equality work
- contributes to infrastructure that helps strengthen the Nordic gender equality cooperation
- Prioritised themes in the present programme for Nordic gender equality cooperation
- The themes are:
- Welfare and innovation
- Gender equality in the public space
- The two cross-cutting themes for the entire cooperation programme are:
- Sustainable development with a focus on diversity
- Facilitate mens’ and boys’ participation in gender equality work
- Sustainability
- Sustainability refers to the degree to which the activity will have lasting effects and results. Examples of lasting results are infrastructure and products that remain after an activity has been completed, such as networks, websites and reports.
- Economic viability
- Applicants are expected to make own contributions to the activity and/or find additional funding sources. This contribution must correspond to at least 20 per cent of the total cost and may be covered by sponsors or other funding sources or through voluntary work, participation fees or indirect costs.

The funding requested should amount to DKK 50 000–500 000.
Activities
The following activities are eligible for funding:
- Nordic conferences/meetings
- Investigations/studies
- Network development
- Projects
- Participation of voluntary organisations in Nordic or international conferences/courses/meetings
Eligibility Criteria
The fund is intended for a broad target group and the calls for applications are open to a wide range of activities and organisations, including:
- Voluntary/citizens’ organisations
- Networks
- Government agencies and other public organisations (for example municipalities and university units
- Other non-commercial actors
- Businesses (small and medium-sized)
Each project must involve at least three Nordic countries, where the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Åland Islands can count as one. Funding may also be granted for activities involving collaboration in neighbouring areas (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as North-West Russia) in which at least two Nordic countries are participating. The primary applicant should come from a Nordic country, the Faroe Islands, Greenland or the Åland Islands.
