The Transitional Living Program (TLP) provides essential services for youth ages 16 to 21 who have run away, been forced to leave home, have no safe alternative housing, or are at risk of homelessness. These programs offer street-based outreach, safe and stable shelter, and comprehensive support services tailored to the unique needs of vulnerable young people.
The goal of the TLP is to help youth build self-sufficient and sustainable lives. The program promotes long-term economic independence and works to prevent ongoing reliance on social services. It supports not only the youth themselves but, when applicable, their children as well.
Shelter and services are provided for up to 18 months, with the possibility of extending to 21 months in exceptional cases. The program is designed to offer youth a path to stability, personal growth, and opportunity.
A total of $23,434,303 in funding is available for this program. Award amounts range from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $350,000.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of public and nonprofit private entities. This includes state and local governments, school districts, housing authorities, higher education institutions, and tribal organizations. Individuals and foreign entities are not eligible to apply.
